Santa Barbara is home to 10 amazing beaches, perfect for spending a day soaking up the rays as you read your favorite book or for participating in water activities you just can’t accomplish in your backyard pool! If you are looking for a Santa Barbara long-term rental and are planning on spending any amount of time in the area, you are most likely going to be spending a good deal of your off time enjoying the amenities of our local beaches, so we’ve compiled a list of our top five favorite beaches, their whereabouts, and what makes them special. You might want to print this out and post it on your refrigerator when you’re living in Santa Barbara in one of our top long term rentals!
Surrounded by majestic cliffs, the secluded and serene Hendry’s Beach is popular with surfers and hang gliders from nearby Elings Park, but has limited parking, so you might want to Uber there. Located 10 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, off the 101 and Los Positas.
Located in Montecito, it is possible that this is the beach you might have a celebrity sighting at, but make sure to bring snacks, drinks, and sunscreen, because this local beach has no public facilities.
Definitely one of the nicer beaches in the area and a spot where campers and surfers mingle in harmony. Sports enthusiasts will love this beach, as it is a popular volleyball, skating, and biking site. Tidal pools offer an exciting glimpse into sea life for the younger members of your family! Take the 101 to Linden and turn away from the mountains to get here.
The most popular and perhaps one of the best beaches in Santa Barbara, East Beach has it all—including parking places! With volleyball courts, hiking, biking, a snack bar, and even a play area for kids, there’s a little something for every member of your family! Accessible from all downtown exits, you won’t have any problem finding East Beach.
One of our busiest beaches located at the beach of our city college, Ledbetter Beach is popular for surfers, windsurfers, and sailboats; it is also one of our favorite people watching spots! Take the Garden Street exit off the 101, turn south, and then turn right onto Cabrillo Blvd to get here.
